London man charged

LONDON, ON (July 22, 2026) – A London man has been charged after members of the London Police Service responded to a weapons investigation in the west end of the city.

On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 10:55 a.m., a woman was inside a business in the 1200-block of Oxford Street West when she was approached by a suspect male, who was unknown to her.

The suspect produced a knife and uttered threats towards the woman before leaving the business. No physical injuries were reported.

Police were contacted and a description of the suspect was provided.

The suspect then entered a business located inside the same plaza, selected a bottle of alcohol and left without making any attempt to pay.

At approximately 11:35 a.m., officers located the suspect in the area of Hyde Park and Fiddlers Green roads. To ensure public safety, Hyde Park Road was closed between Oxford Street West and Valetta Street while officers negotiated with the armed suspect.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., the suspect was arrested and transported to hospital by paramedic services with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Cameron Mowat, 34, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

·        Assault with a weapon;

·        Uttering threats of death or bodily harm;

·        Theft under $5,000;

·        Fail to comply with release order; and

·        Breach of probation.

The accused remains in custody and is expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
