Salary: $106,912 (starting) to $125,107 (at 30 months)
Hybrid Remote Options:
The LPS is currently operating under a Pilot Remote Work Procedure. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement following successful completion of training.
Position Summary:
This posting is for an existing vacancy.
The Supervisor, Human Resources, reports directly to the Director, Human Resources, and works cooperatively and collaboratively across the organization to support the achievement of divisional and organizational goals. This role will provide support, and guidance, into a wide range of people related matters including, but not limited to HR programs and procedures, recruitment and retention, employee relations, and HR administration.
Responsibilities:
• In collaboration with the Director, provide advice and consultation to members, supervisors, and management of the London Police Service (LPS) on a broad range of matters relating to HR programs and procedures.
• Support HR data requests from all areas of the organization as well as regular monthly reporting on HRD metrics for the Director.
• Support the sworn and civilian recruitment and selection process for internal and external positions within the London Police Service (LPS).
• Ensure all selection procedures are followed and that all recruitment takes place in a fair and unbiased manner.
• Represent the LPS as an Employer of Choice at job fairs and with community partners for recruitment outreach purposes.
• Work with the London Police Association to mitigate/resolve issues specific to the scope and responsibilities of the position.
• Work collaboratively with the Director and HRIS Project team on the implementation and maintenance of the HRIS.
• Collaborate with the Director, Human Resources on the development of HR programs and procedures that support member development, engagement, and that are aligned goals of LPS.
• Participate in the new hire onboarding program to bring awareness to HR programs and procedures relevant for new members.
• Supervise, coordinate, advise, coach, and evaluate Human Resources Coordinators and Generalists.
• Ensure that LPS Procedures, HRD Procedures and Practices, and applicable legislation are complied with by staff.
• Act as a level of escalation for all challenging situations brought forward from the Human Resources Coordinator and Human Resources Generalist.
• Act as a second level of review for Personnel Orders, and approve on behalf of the Director.
• Provide input into the development of the HRD annual budget.
• Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.
Requirements:
• 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
• CHRP or CHRL designation.
• 5-7 years wide-ranging HR experience, including leadership of direct reports.
• Knowledge of appropriate HR legislation and HR best practice
• Excellent problem-solving skills and judgement for analysis and developing or recommending solution to problems of a complex nature, and to develop improved methods, procedures, techniques or programs.
• Excellent communication skills for regular contact with LPS members and external agencies to give, obtain, and/or exchange, and/or discuss technical information or decisions requiring discussion or explanation to ensure full understanding with tact, self-control, and persuasiveness.
