ROBBERY INVESTIGATION
Man arrested, drugs seized

LONDON, ON (June 1, 2026) – A London man has been charged following a robbery investigation in the downtown core over the weekend.

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a male was walking in the area of Dundas Street and Maitland Street when he was approached by a male known to him. The suspect uttered threats of death and assaulted the victim multiple times before fleeing the area on a bicycle.

Police were contacted and responded to the area. A description of the suspect was provided to officers. There were no reported physical injuries.

At approximately 7:40 p.m., officers located the suspect and placed him under arrest.

A search incident to arrest yielded the following items:

·         61.6 grams of suspected Fentanyl

·         21.9 grams of suspected crack cocaine

·         3.4 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine

·         Eight hydromorphone pills

·         Two digital scales

·         Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation, Veldim Jakupaj, 38, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

·         Uttering threats of death or bodily harm;

·         Assault; and

·         Four counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused appeared in London court on May 31, 2026, in relation to the charges and is scheduled to reappear on July 10, 2026.
