ROAD SAFETY ENFORCEMENT RESULTS
Drivers charged during road safety initiative
LONDON, ON (August 6, 2026)- London police laid hundreds of traffic related charges, seized 30 vehicles and arrested two people for impaired driving during a week-long road safety initiative across the city.
Between July 26, 2026 and August 1, 2026, officers conducted speed enforcement and RIDE programs as part of ongoing efforts to address dangerous driving and reduce impaired driving throughout our city.
During the five-day speed enforcement initiative from July 26 to 30, officers issued 293 provincial offence notices, 54 warnings and 14 criminal charges, including:
- 30 stunt-driving charges, resulting in 30 vehicles being seized
- 155 speed-related charges
- 40 equipment-related charges
- 8 seatbelt charges
- 16 cellphone charges
- 44 other offences
- 54 warnings issued
Enforcement continued with RIDE programs on July 31, 2026 and August 1, 2026, resulting in:
- 1,077 vehicles checked
- 33 roadside screening demands administered
- 8 roadside warnings issued, resulting in seven-day licence suspensions
- 2 people arrested and charged with impaired driving
“Road safety is important to the London Police Service, and we all have a role to play,” said Staff Sgt. Michael Anderson, of the London Police Service Road Safety Section. “Drivers are encouraged to do their part by slowing down, staying alert and making safe choices to help keep our community safe.”
The London Police Service will continue enforcement and education efforts across the city in support of safer roads for all.
