London man arrested

LONDON, ON (August 18, 2026) – A London man was arrested after an assault in the downtown core over the weekend.

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, at approximately 12:50 a.m., a man was standing in line outside an establishment in the area of Richmond and John streets when he was approached by a male.

The victim was assaulted by the suspect male and police were contacted.

Emergency services attended, and the victim was transported to hospital by paramedic services with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

A description of the suspect male was provided to police. Video surveillance footage was also obtained, and at approximately 1 a.m., officers located and arrested the suspect nearby.

The victim and suspect were not known to each other.

As a result of the investigation, Deionte Lord, 29, of London, has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.

The accused has an upcoming court date of September 16, 2026, in relation to the charge.
