LONDON, ON (July 21, 2026) – The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked their mandate following a police interaction during an arrest over the weekend.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 12:50 a.m., London police officers responded to an address on Wonderland Road North involving an intimate partner violence investigation relating to an assault that took place earlier in the evening in the downtown core.

Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that it involved two separate victims.

He was transported to LPS Headquarters Detention Unit (HDU). While in the LPS HDU, the man advised police of an injury sustained during the course of the interaction and was transported to hospital.

The victims did not sustain any physical injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old London man has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault with a weapon;
  • Assault;
  • Two counts of theft under $5000; and
  • Resist arrest.

The accused will not be named, as doing so could potentially identify the victims in this matter.

The accused is scheduled to reappear in London court on August 19, 2026, in relation to the charges.

The Special Investigations Unit was notified and has invoked their mandate. As such, all inquiries regarding the investigation are to be directed to the Special Investigations Unit at 416-622-0748 or 1-800-787-8529 or by emailing siu.media@ontario.ca .
