POLICE INVESTIGATE TARGETED SHOOTING INCIDENT ON EMERALD ROAD
Suspect arrested

UPDATE # 2 – LONDON, ON (May 4, 2026) – The male wanted in connection with a shooting on Emerald Road last June, Denis Lee Churchill, was arrested in Vienna late last week by members of the Elgin County OPP, with the assistance of the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team, Tactics and Rescue Unit, Canine Unit and Crisis Negotiators.

He remains in custody and is expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.

Policing has no boundaries and this investigation demonstrates the strength of collaboration across agencies. With the assistance of our policing partners, investigators were able to locate and arrest a dangerous suspect, ensuring the safety of our communities. The London Police Service extends its sincere thanks to all agencies involved, including the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad, whose support was instrumental in bringing this suspect into custody.

UPDATE # 1 – LONDON, ON (April 27, 2026) – Members of the London Police Service Guns and Gangs Section have identified a suspect in relation to a shooting dating back to June 13, 2025.

Denis Lee Churchill, 38, of St. Thomas, has not been located, and as a result, a warrant of arrest has been obtained.

The charges he is facing are as follows:

·         Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm;

·         Possess loaded/unloaded regulated firearm;

·         Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner;

·         Occupy motor vehicle with firearm/etc.;

·         Possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence; and

·         Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

Members of the public are advised not to approach the accused if located, as the individual should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who observes the accused or has information regarding their whereabouts is urged to contact 9-1-1 immediately.

ORIGINAL – LONDON, ON (June 13, 2025) – Police are seeking the public’s assistance after members of the London Police Service Uniformed Division responded to an early morning shooting in the southeast end of the city.

At approximately 2:25 a.m. this morning, police were called by a citizen who reported hearing what they believed to be the sound of several gunshots in the area of Emerald and Chelton roads.

Officers arrived and located evidence confirming multiple shots had struck a vehicle and garage door of a residence on Emerald Road.

No residents or citizens in the area were struck. No injuries were reported.

The London Police Service acknowledges incidents involving firearms can create understandable community concern. We remain fully committed to conducting a thorough investigation and maintaining public safety.

The investigation has been reassigned to the LPS Guns and Gangs Section, who are actively following up on all leads.

Investigators believe the incident was not a random act and was targeted at the residence.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to the investigation or may have been in the area of Emerald Road between Chelton and Lighthouse roads between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. this morning, who may have dash-cam, residential or business video surveillance that could assist with the investigation, to contact the London Police Service.

Community safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity promptly.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
