SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION
Accused released from custody 

UPDATE – LONDON, ON (August 12, 2026) – The London Police Service is informing the public that a man charged in a sexual assault investigation dating back to June 2026 was released from custody today.

Zehr appeared in London court today, August 12, 2026, and was released from custody by the courts after a contested bail hearing. The accused is bound by the following conditions:

·         To reside in New Hamburg, Ontario

·         Remain in residence or on the property of the residence 24 hours a day unless in the presence of surety

·         No access to computer or internet

·         No weapons

He is scheduled to re-appear in London court on September 24, 2026, in relation to the charges.

Police continue to appeal for information in this case. Anyone who has additional information or believes Zehr may be breaching a condition of his release, is asked to contact police. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

ORIGINAL - LONDON, ON (July 23, 2026) – Members of the London Police Service held a press conference today in relation to a St. Thomas man arrested after a sexual assault that occurred in the north-east end of the city last month.

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, between approximately 11:30 a.m. and 11:50 a.m., a woman was walking in the 600-block of Adelaide Street when she was approached by an unknown male who initiated a conversation with her. The woman subsequently entered the male’s vehicle, at which time he produced a knife and restrained her hands.

The victim was transported to the area of Oxford Street East and Mornington Avenue, where she was sexually assaulted.

The suspect fled in a vehicle and the victim contacted police.

Descriptions of the suspect and vehicle were provided to police. Video surveillance was also reviewed. The suspect vehicle was determined to be a 2014 grey Ford Focus.

The suspect was identified and arrested on June 5, 2026.

As a result of the investigation, Gregory Zehr, 44, of St. Thomas, has been charged with the following offences:

• Sexual assault with a weapon or imitation weapon;
• Forcible confinement;
• Kidnapping;
• Uttering threats/death or bodily harm;
• Assault with a weapon; and
• Possession of a weapon.

The accused remains in custody and is expected to re-appear in London court today, 2026, in relation to the charges.

Investigators are sharing details of this incident with the public and are asking anyone who may have had contact with this individual, or who has information about what occurred, to come forward and speak with police. To support this effort, we are releasing the name and photograph of the accused and suspect vehicle.

We are also appealing to members of the public who may have been in the areas of Adelaide Street and Pall Mall Street, or Oxford Street East and Mornington Avenue on June 4, 2026, between approximately 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m., and who may have information, dash-cam footage, or residential or business video surveillance, to contact police.
