PROHIBITED DRIVER IN STOLEN VEHICLE FACING MULTIPLE CHARGES
London man arrested

London ON (August 21, 2026) – A London man is facing multiple charges after members of the London Police Service Uniformed Division responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the north end of the city last week.

A concerned citizen's call on August 13, 2026, led police to an unconscious male behind the wheel of a vehicle in the area of Arbour Glen Crescent and Kipps Lane. When officers positioned their cruisers to prevent the vehicle from leaving, the suspect awoke and attempted to drive away, striking one of the police cruisers. The suspect male was arrested after resisting officers.

There were no reported injuries.

A search yielded the following:

• 204 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine
• 12 grams of suspected fentanyl
• A scale
• Small plastic baggies
• Speed-measuring warning device

Through further investigation, police determined the suspect was wanted in relation to outstanding warrants, the vehicle had been reported stolen, the licence plates were not authorized for the vehicle, and the suspect had multiple court-imposed driving prohibitions.

As a result of the investigation, Robert Matthew Toms Roth, 42, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

• Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking;
• Impaired operation of a conveyance;
• Operation while prohibited;
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
• Resist arrest;
• Use plates not authorized for vehicle; and
• Drive motor vehicle with speed-measuring warning device.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to re-appear in London court on August 24, 2026.
