MAN FACING CHARGES FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION INTO DATA BREACH
Accessed unauthorized London Hydro customer data
LONDON, ON (October 2, 2026) – Members of the London Police Service (LPS) Cyber Crime Unit have charged a London man following an investigation into the unauthorized access of London Hydro customer information.
On June 19, 2026, police received a report from London Hydro regarding a suspected compromise of its customer information.
Investigators learned that between June 5 and June 17, 2026, an individual accessed customer accounts and obtained customer information without authorization.
As part of the investigation, police executed a search warrant at a London residence on August 13, 2026. Several electronic devices were seized and subsequently examined.
Through a forensic examination of the seized electronic devices, investigators located evidence that linked the suspect male to the unauthorized access of London Hydro customer information.
As a result of the investigation, Rony Hotimsky, 40, of London, has been charged with:
- Fraudulently obtain any computer service; and
- Mischief over $5000.
The accused was arrested this morning and is expected to re-appear in London court on December 29, 2026, in relation to the charges.
