LPS partners with #NotInMyCity to combat human trafficking and sexual exploitation

London, ON (July 30, 2026) – The London Police Service (LPS) is proud to announce a new partnership with #NotInMyCity, a national movement dedicated to preventing and ending human trafficking and sexual exploitation across Canada.

As part of this commitment, LPS members have participated in specialized education and training designed to help identify the signs of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The partnership will also support ongoing awareness initiatives throughout the organization, strengthening prevention efforts and enhancing support for victims and survivors.

Human trafficking remains one of the fastest-growing crimes in Canada.  According to national data, 93 per cent of reported victims are Canadians who are trafficked domestically.  Many cases remain hidden and unreported due to manipulation, fear, threats from traffickers, shame, language barriers, or mistrust of authority.

It exploits vulnerability, robs individuals of their freedom, and leaves lasting impacts on survivors, investigators, and communities alike,” said Chief Thai Truong. “For those who have worked these investigations, the experiences stay with you forever. That is why education, awareness, and early intervention are so important. Through our partnership with #NotInMyCity, we are strengthening our ability to recognize the signs of exploitation, support survivors, and hold offenders accountable.”

The London Police Service is committed to working alongside community organizations, service providers, and law enforcement partners to prevent exploitation, identify victims, and ensure traffickers are brought to justice.
