London man arrested

LONDON, ON (August 21, 2026) – A London man is facing a number of charges after police located an unconscious driver in the east end of the city last night.

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, at approximately 8 p.m., an off-duty London police officer observed a vehicle stopped on Florence Street near Kellogg Lane. As the officer approached to check on the driver, the vehicle began moving and struck a nearby fence. As he approached the vehicle, a man was found unconscious behind the wheel. The officer called 9-1-1 and police and paramedic services attended.

The suspect male was arrested without incident.

A search resulted in the seizure of the following items:

• 254 grams of suspected cocaine, value: $25,400
• Rifle and magazine
• Small plastic bags
• Quantity of Canadian currency

As a result of the investigation, James Beretta, 29, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

• Occupy motor vehicle with firearm;
• Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device;
• Possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate;
• Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon or prohibited device;
• Impaired operation of a conveyance;
• Possess loaded or unloaded regulated firearm;
• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused is scheduled to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
