ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON INVESTIGATION
London man facing charges 

LONDON, ON (September 21, 2026) – A London man was arrested over the weekend in relation to an assault with a weapon that took place in the east end of the city.

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, at approximately 3:45 a.m., a man was asleep inside a structure in a wooded area near Clarke Road and Oxford Street when a suspect entered and woke him. The suspect struck the man with a sword, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim fled the area and called 9-1-1.

Police attended and utilized a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) to assist in locating the suspect.

The suspect was arrested without incident.

The victim and suspect were known to each other.

As a result of the investigation, Heinrich Martens, 36, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

• Assault with a weapon; and
• Assault causing bodily harm.

The accused was released from custody and is expected to appear in London court on October 28, 2026, in relation to the charges.
