MULTIPLE ARSONS RESULT IN CHARGES
London man arrested, no reported injuries

LONDON, ON (May 28, 2026) – Members of the London Police Service arrested a man in connection with a series of arsons that occurred in the early morning hours of May 26, 2026.

At approximately 12:20 a.m. on May 26, 2026, members of the London Police Service, along with the London Fire Department (LFD), responded to multiple reports of fires in the areas of Empire Street, Mornington Avenue, and Connaught Avenue.

Between approximately 12:20 a.m. and 12:40 a.m., LPS officers and LFD members located several fires. The fires included three fully engulfed vehicles, damage to a fourth vehicle, a residential porch and fence at an occupied dwelling, and a recycling bin. Video surveillance obtained during the investigation also captured a male suspect pouring gasoline at another residence, indicating further attempts to ignite additional fires.

Through focused and proactive investigative efforts, driven by concern for public safety, investigators were able to identify and locate the suspect at approximately 3:30 a.m.

There were no reported injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Timothy Hugh Ebbs, 34, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

• Two counts of arson – disregard for human Life
• Three counts of arson causing property damage
• Possession of incendiary material
• Mischief under $5,000

At the time of his arrest, the accused was also wanted on multiple outstanding charges, including offences involving violence and breaches of court-imposed conditions.

The total estimated damage is approximately $62,000. At this time, investigators have not identified any connection between the accused and the affected properties or victims.

The accused remains in custody and was scheduled to re-appear in London court yesterday in relation to the charges.

“The London Police Service continually monitors calls for service and assesses patterns of activity,” said Detective Inspector Sean Travis of the London Police Service Criminal Investigation Division. “Based on the circumstances, we direct the appropriate resources where they are needed most to ensure the safety of our community.”

The investigation was reassigned to members of the Patrol Operations Investigative Section and remains ongoing. Members of the public who may have information, residential or business surveillance video, or dash-camera footage related to these incidents are asked to contact the London Police Service.
