Project Learn #PartySmart

Project LEARN (Liquor Enforcement and Reduction of Noise) is an increased police presence downtown and in neighbourhoods around Western University and Fanshawe College during the first few weekends of each academic year. There is also increased enforcement of by-laws related to parties, parking, open fires, noise, litter, and public urination in the city.

First launched in 2007, the goal of Project LEARN is to protect public safety and property, and help students celebrate responsibly. The project focuses on nuisance parties, open alcohol consumption, underage drinking and public intoxication. Partners include both administration and student leaders from Fanshawe College and Western University here in the City of London. Throughout the month of September, police also partner with Municipal Law Enforcement Officers to address issues related to noise.

The London Police Service encourages people to celebrate responsibly. That means:

  • Go to a licenced establishment, event, or a small, private house party
  • Don't post house party locations on social media
  • Don't attend nuisance or street parties
  • Drink responsibly – have fun while being safe
  • Be respectful – to your neighbours and the community at large
  • Use a washroom, not someone’s backyard
  • Look out for one another, and if you need us, call us
  • Always be aware of your surroundings and avoid walking alone at night
  • Become aware of your campus’s safety protocols and resources
  • Never drive impaired - always designate a sober driver, take a taxi, or use a ride-sharing service

Remember - #PartySmart & #DontInviteUs2UrParty!
