Two youths injured

UPDATE – LONDON, ON (August 4, 2022) – Members of the London Police Service continue to investigate the aggravated assault of two youths that took place on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, in the south end of the city.

One of the teenaged victims remains in hospital in serious, but non-life-threatening condition, while the other has been released from hospital.

Information has been received indicating that the individuals involved in the altercation in the parking lot of a shopping centre located in the 1100-block of Wellington Road, may have been at a large unsanctioned basketball game nearby, prior to the stabbing. The game allegedly took place outside of an elementary school in the 500-block of Bradley Avenue earlier in the night.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information, to contact London police at 519-661-5670 or through Crime Stoppers. Specifically, police are asking members of the public for information or video footage of any altercations that took place at the basketball game, or the parking lot associated to the incident, between the hours of 7:30 p.m., and 9:30 p.m.

ORIGINAL – LONDON, ON (August 3, 2022) – Members of the London Police Service are investigating after two youths were stabbed in south London last night.

On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a 9-1-1 call to a parking lot in the 1100-block of Wellington Road after receiving information that a male was stabbed.

Upon arrival, two male youths were located with apparent stab wounds. Both youths were transported to hospital by Paramedic Services with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

A suspect description of one male was provided to officers, and a youth was arrested nearby. A second suspect was identified and located, and the investigation is ongoing.

Two knives were located and seized.

Investigators do not believe this was a random incident, and there is no risk to public safety.
