UPDATE #2 – LONDON, ON (November 30, 2021) – On Saturday, November 27 at approximately 8:20 a.m., London Police received reports of a male who had entered the Thames River in the area of Wharncliffe Road South and Oxford Street. Officers attended the area, and witnessed an individual submerged in the water. Rescue efforts were immediately started. Sadly, after an extensive three-day search involving members of the London Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), a helicopter from the OPP Aviation Services, London Search and Rescue (LSAR), and the London Fire Department, search efforts have now concluded and the male was not recovered.

No further information will be released at this time.

UPDATE #1 – LONDON, ON (November 28, 2021) – Members of the London Police Service, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), continue to actively search for an individual who may have entered the water yesterday morning in the area of Greenway Park.

We continue to ask members of the public to avoid the area.

More information will be provided, as appropriate.

ORIGINAL – LONDON, ON (November 27, 2021) – Members of the London Police Service (LPS) as well as the London Fire Department (LFD) are involved in an ongoing search of the Thames River in the area of Greenway Park.

Information was received that an individual had entered the water.  As a result, members of the LPS as well as members of the LFD attended the area.

The search is ongoing, and police are asking the public to avoid the area.

The investigation is in its early stages, and more information with be released as it becomes available.
