UNSANCTIONED STREET PARTY TASK FORCE UPDATE
LONDON, ON (October 3, 2024) – It was a busy weekend for the London Police Service (LPS), along with community partners, responding to unsanctioned gatherings. Large parties took place at a number of locations, including on Broughdale Avenue, Huron Street, Richmond Street and Sherwood Avenue throughout the weekend.
It is estimated that a total of approximately 15,000 people were in attendance on those streets on Saturday, with approximately 5000-7000 people remaining in attendance as the evening wore on, necessitating the closure of several roads, including Broughdale Avenue and Huron Street, at times, to ensure the safety of those in the area.
“Most of the young adults we encountered were cooperative with emergency services and partner agencies,” says Superintendent Ryan Scrivens, of the London Police Service. “We would like to thank the members of the LPS, our community partner agencies, and out-of-town police services (including members from Windsor, Hamilton and Peterborough), for providing assistance throughout the day and evening.”
