CHARGES LAID BY MEMBERS OF LPS BAIL COMPLIANCE AND WARRANT APPREHENSION UNIT
Two Londoners facing new charges

LONDON, ON (August 19, 2025) – Two London men were arrested last week as a result of an ongoing investigation by members of the London Police Service (LPS) Bail Compliance and Warrant Apprehension Unit.

With assistance by members of the LPS Investigative Response Unit, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, shortly after 4 p.m., one adult male was arrested on Trossacks Avenue after exiting a vehicle. A second male fled southbound on foot across Fanshawe Park Road and was arrested by police a short distance away.

A search incident to arrest yielded the following items:

  • 179 grams of suspected crack cocaine
  • 33.5 x suspected Oxycodone pills
  • $3,700 of Canadian currency
  • $230 of American currency

As a result, Shyheim Clerzius, 23, and Clinton Benson Yanga, 26, both of London, have been jointly charged with the following offences:

  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking; and
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Shyheim Clerzius was previously released by the courts with bail conditions in relation to weapons and firearms-related offences dating back to April of 2023.

"The mandate of the Bail Compliance and Warrant Apprehension Unit is to locate and arrest high-risk or repeat violent offenders who are wanted, and to monitor bail compliance for those deemed high-risk and out on bail,” said Detective Inspector Sean Travis, of the London Police Service Investigative Services Branch. " While we understand completely preventing all violent repeat offenses is impossible, members of the London Police Service are committed to prevention. Public safety remains our top priority, and our officers will continue to focus efforts on high-risk offenders and individuals under bail conditions.”

This investigation has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

Both of the accused remain in custody. Yanga will re-appear in London court today, August 19, 2025, while Clerzius will re-appear on August 28, 2025, in relation to the charges.
