STOLEN TRUCK STRIKES MULTIPLE VEHICLES, INCLUDING CRUISERS
Driver arrested - two suspects outstanding

UPDATE #2 - LONDON, ON (March 17, 2025) –The driver of the stolen vehicle that hit police cruisers and multiple vehicles in the east end of the city before stealing a second vehicle from a citizen last week has been arrested.

Perry Jacobs, 25, of Melbourne, was arrested over the weekend by an out-of-town police service in relation to another matter. The LPS Street Crime Unit confirmed he was the driver of the stolen vehicle involved in last weeks collisions.

As a result of the investigation, he has been charged by way of warrant with the following offences as he remains in custody on other matters;

  • Six (6) counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Dangerous operation causing bodily harm;
  • Five (5) counts of assault a peace officer with a weapon;
  • Four (4) counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident;
  • Fail to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm;
  • Attempt to commit indictable offence;
  • Theft of a motor vehicle with violence;
  • Mischief over $5000;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • Failing to comply with an undertaking;
  • Criminal Negligence causing bodily harm;
  • Four (4) counts of operation while prohibited; and,
  • Arson causing damage to property.

Investigators continue to appeal to the public who may have dash-cam, residential or business video surveillance footage which may assist with the investigation.

Investigators are also asking anyone who may know the identity of the two unknown suspects to call the London Police Service.

The investigation remains ongoing.

UPDATE – LONDON, ON (March 13, 2025) – A previously reported stolen orange Hyundai Elantra has been located in the south-east end of the city, unoccupied.

The investigation remains active and on-going, and investigators continue to appeal to members of the public who may have dash-cam, residential or business video surveillance footage which may assist with the investigation.  Investigators are also asking anyone who may know the identity of the suspects, or where the stolen vehicle may be, to call the London Police Service.

ORIGINAL – LONDON, ON (March 13, 2025) – A man operating a stolen pickup truck was involved in multiple collisions and car-jacked a vehicle before fleeing from officers last night.

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a London police officer was in the area of Carlyle Drive and Dundas Street when a black pickup truck drove in the direction of the officer’s cruiser. The officer was able to steer out of the way and advised other officers of the attempted collision. A description of the suspect vehicle was provided to officers in the area. 

The vehicle was observed travelling westbound on Admiral Drive from Carlyle Drive at a high rate of speed, and police received several 9-1-1 calls in relation to the vehicle driving erratically.

The suspect vehicle was spotted by police nearby and drove into two separate police cruisers intentionally, causing significant damage.

The vehicle fled from the area with a damaged tire, striking three citizen vehicles at different locations.

The occupants of the suspect vehicle stopped the truck, exited, and fled on foot in the area of Marconi Boulevard and Trafalgar Street.

The suspects removed a female driver from a nearby vehicle, stealing the vehicle and fleeing from the area.

The vehicle is described as an orange, four-door 2018 Hyundai Elantra, with Ontario plates ASAS381.

The stolen pickup truck was recovered by police.

One citizen sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital by paramedic services as a precaution.

The investigation has been reassigned to the LPS Street Crime Unit, who are appealing to the public who may have dash-cam, residential or business video surveillance footage which may assist with the investigation.  Investigators are also asking anyone who may know the identity of the suspects, or where the stolen vehicle may be, to call the London Police Service.

The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing.
