STOLEN MOTORCYCLE LEADS TO FIREARMS CHARGES
London man arrested
LONDON, ON (August 28, 2025) – A London man has been charged after members of the London Police Service Uniformed Division located a stolen motorcycle in the city’s east end yesterday morning.
Shortly before 4:50 a.m., on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, officers patrolling in the area of Salisbury Street and Mornington Avenue observed a man pushing a motorcycle into a parking lot.
The male parked the motorcycle and retrieved a black duffle bag from a nearby building, as he returned to the motorcycle he was joined by two other men.
When officers approached the men, two of the males fled the area on foot while one man remained with the motorcycle.
While speaking with the male, officers observed the ignition on the motorcycle had been damaged and learned the motorcycle had been stolen.
The male was arrested, and a search of the duffle bag yielded a number of break and enter tools along with an unloaded firearm.
As a result of the investigation, Joseph James Jay Porter, 29, of London has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
- Carry a concealed weapon;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon;
- Possess firearm other than restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a license;
- Possession of break in instruments;
- Two (2) counts of breach of probation;
- Six (6) counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to reappear in London court on September 2, 2025, in relation to the charges.
