London man arrested

LONDON, ON (March 30, 2026) – A London man is facing charges after a stabbing in the downtown core over the weekend.

On Friday, March 27, 2026, at approximately 11:10 p.m., a man was walking in the area of Richmond Street and Queens Avenue when a male approached and stabbed him.

Police responded to the area and located the victim. He was transported to hospital by paramedic services with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Video surveillance was obtained, and the suspect was identified.

A short time later, police located and arrested the suspect. The investigation was reassigned to members of the Patrol Operations Investigative Section.

The suspect and victim were not known to each other.

As a result of the investigation, Blaine Mackenzie Smith, 32, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Breach of probation

The accused is scheduled to appear in London court today in relation to the charge.
