SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION
London man charged
LONDON, ON (August 5, 2025) – A London man has been arrested and charged after members of the London Police Service investigated a sexual assault that occurred last week in the east end of the city.
On Friday, August 1, 2025 between 4 and 5 a.m., a woman walking on Dundas Street between Adelaide and Lyle streets was approached by a man in a vehicle. The two engaged in conversation before the woman entered the vehicle of the suspect male.
Once inside the vehicle, the suspect male drove the vehicle to a parking lot in the area of Dundas Street and Kathleen Avenue where he sexually assaulted the woman.
The suspect male stole the victims clothing and personal belongings before fleeing the area in the vehicle.
The victim was located by a citizen in the parking lot and called 9-1-1.
Officers responded and transported the victim to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation was reassigned to the LPS Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section who quickly identified the suspect.
As a result of the investigation, Charles William Thornton, 27, of London has been charged with the following offences:
- Sexual assault; and,
- Theft under $5000.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to reappear in London court today in relation to the charges.
