ROBBERY INVESTIGATION
One suspect arrested, investigators searching for a second 

LONDON, ON (August 23, 2023) – Members of the London Police Service Street Crime Unit continue to investigate after a late-night robbery occurred in the downtown core.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., on Thursday August 17, 2023 a citizen called 9-1-1 to report a robbery in the area of Dundas and Richmond streets.

Police attended and located a male with minor injuries, the victim was treated on scene by paramedic services. The suspects fled the scene on foot prior to officers arriving. They were not located.

Members of LPS Street Crime Unit were assigned to the investigation. Video surveillance from the area was reviewed and revealed the victim was assaulted before having his personal belongings stolen.  The video surveillance assisted officers with identifying the suspects.

As a result of the investigation, Justin Joseph Harold Lavoie, 44, of London has been arrested and charged. The current whereabouts of Chiya Arash Alishahi, 36, of London is unknown, and as such, charges have been laid by way of warrant of arrest.

Both males have been jointly charged with robbery/theft from a person with violence.

Chiya Arash Alishahi is described as a White male, approximately 6’1”, 174 lbs, medium build, with short black hair, black and grey stubble and brown eyes. Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating him. If seen, members of the public are reminded not to approach him, and to call 9-1-1 immediately.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Justin Joseph Harold Lavoie is scheduled to re-appear in London court on October 4, 2023 in relation to the charges.
