NORTH-END PROPERTY DAMAGE
London Police Investigating
LONDON, ON (May 17, 2022) – Members of the London Police Service are investigating an incident of graffiti-style property damage located at a north-end park this morning.
Police were notified of damage to a structure in the 800-block of South Wenige Drive earlier today.
The damage consisted of hate-related symbols and words painted on playground equipment.
“We are disheartened to learn of this reprehensible incident, particularly given the symbolism behind the hateful images and words depicted and the fact it involved children’s playground equipment” says London Police Chief Steve Williams. “We would like to thank members of the community who brought this to our attention. The London Police Service condemns all acts of hatred and violence toward any individuals or groups in our community. We will continue to thoroughly investigate all incidents of this nature, and apply charges as appropriate.”
At this time we have no suspect information, and we are appealing to members of the public to please contact us if they have any information that could assist us with this investigation.
Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
