Increased police presence throughout the city
LONDON, ON (August 28, 2025) – In preparation for the return to campus for college and university students, members of the London Police Service are relaunching Project LEARN on Friday, August 29, 2025.
Project LEARN (Liquor Enforcement and Reduction of Noise) is a response to community concerns that arise at the start of each school year as students return to the area for class. The project aims to work together with students and residents to address these issues which include nuisance parties, open alcohol consumption, underage drinking, and public intoxication. During the month of September, London residents will see an increased police presence in the downtown core and in neighbourhoods around Western University and Fanshawe College.
First launched in 2007, the goal of Project LEARN is to protect public safety, protect property, and to encourage students to behave responsibly. Project LEARN aims to take a proactive approach, engaging with the community to ensure public safety.
Throughout the month, police will also partner with Municipal Law Enforcement Officers to address issues related to noise.
“The start of the school year is an exciting time when we welcome post-secondary students back to enjoy the great things that our city has to offer,” said Acting Superintendent Dave Pratt, of the London Police Service, Uniformed Division. “The goal of Project LEARN is to ensure students know how to keep themselves, their friends, and our community safe while enjoying this exciting time in their lives. We look forward to interacting with students again to educate them and ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities and obligations as London residents. We will be sharing safety messages on our social media channels throughout the next few weeks, to serve as reminders to community members and students alike.”
