UPDATE #4 - LONDON, ON (August 4, 2024) – At approximately 1:00 p.m. this afternoon members of the London Police Service and London Fire Department located remains of a child in the river in the area of Perth and University Drive. The remains are believed to be in relation to the ongoing missing person investigation from Thursday August 1, 2024.
The investigation has been re-assigned to the LPS Major Crimes Section who will be assisting the Chief Coroner’s office in the ongoing investigation.
London police would like to thank the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with London Search and Rescue (LSAR), Huron County Search and Rescue (HSAR), the London Fire Department and all volunteers who assisted in co-ordinating the response and search efforts in this investigation.

UPDATE #3 – LONDON, ON (August 3, 2024) – Members of the London Police Service, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), a helicopter from the OPP Aviation Services along with London Search and Rescue (LSAR), Huron County Search and Rescue (HSAR) and the London Fire Department continue to actively search for the child who went missing in the Thames River in the area of Adelaide Street North and Kipps Lane on Thursday .
The search and recovery efforts to locate the missing child continue.
We continue to ask members of the public to avoid the river.

The search efforts continue and have now transitioned into a recovery effort to locate the missing child.
Search and recovery efforts will continue throughout the weekend, if necessary.

UPDATE – LONDON, ON (August 2, 2024) – Members of the London Police Service continue to monitor the river and searched riverbanks overnight for the missing child with the use of several large spotlights.
Emergency services will be deploying back into the river this morning as day breaks.
Police are reminding the public that the river is high and moving quickly and to allow emergency personnel with the appropriate safety gear to conduct the search.

LONDON, ON (August 1, 2024) – At approximately 3 p.m. this afternoon members of the London Police Service responded to reports of a missing child last seen in the river in the area of Adelaide Street North and Kipps Lane.
Police along with members of the London Fire Department and other emergency services are on scene and a search is underway.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area and are reminded that the river is high and moving quickly and to allow emergency personnel with the appropriate safety gear to conduct the search.
