MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE LAID IN RELATION TO HEROIN DEATH

LONDON, ON (June 16, 2022) – On November 7, 2020, at approximately 5 a.m., emergency services responded to a 9-1-1 call in relation to an unresponsive female inside a residence in the area of Commissioners Road East and Adelaide Street South.
The female was pronounced deceased upon arrival of London paramedics.
The Office of the Chief Coroner began an investigation with the assistance of members of the London Police Service Major Crime Section.
A post-mortem examination was conducted, and the cause of death was determined to be a heroin overdose.
Through the course of the investigation, officers identified the male suspect who sold the heroin to the victim.
As a result of this investigation, Joshua Biernacki, 28, of Toronto, has been charged with the following offences:
- Manslaughter
- Traffic in schedule I substance
The accused is scheduled to attend London court today in relation to the charges.
