LONDON POLICE SERVICE BOARD ANNOUNCES DEPUTY CHIEF BETTS RESIGNATION
Deputy Chief Stu Betts announces resignation from the London Police Service
LONDON, ON (November 1, 2022) – Susan Toth, Chair of the London Police Services Board, announces the resignation of Deputy Chief of Police Stu Betts effective January 8, 2023.
“We congratulate Deputy Chief Betts on being appointed the Chief of Police of the Peterborough Police Service. While we are sad to lose him, we know that he will bring to Peterborough the same dedication, work ethic and commitment to the community and members of the police service that he showed as Deputy Chief in London.”
Deputy Chief Betts is in his 25th year of policing, having started his career with York Regional Police in 1997. He has been with the London Police Service since July 2019. This resignation notice provides the Board with time to engage in a search for Deputy Chief Betts’ successor, which the Board will begin in the very near future.
“It is with mixed emotions that I leave the London Police Service,” says Deputy Chief Betts. “It has been a privilege to serve as Deputy Chief over these past three years and I am grateful for the relationships I have built both within our organization and throughout the community of London. I am proud of the work done each and every day by the sworn and civilian members of LPS, and I know they will continue to serve the community with integrity and professionalism. I would like to thank Chief Williams, Deputy Chief McIntyre and the entire Senior Management Team, for their support during my tenure here, and of course, the London Police Services Board for entrusting me with this role. Thank you, as well, to the London Police Association for your collaboration in advocating for our members.”
“It has been a pleasure working with Deputy Chief Betts,” says Toth. “Throughout his tenure here, we have seen first-hand his commitment to building relationships with the community and with members of the LPS. He has shown leadership during difficult times, and the Board wishes him the best of luck as Peterborough Chief of Police.”
