IMPAIRED DRIVER OPERATING STOLEN VEHICLE
London man facing multiple charges
LONDON, ON (May 29, 2025) – A London man is facing charges after fleeing from police and being arrested in the downtown core early yesterday morning.
On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at approximately 4:20 a.m., a citizen observed a man asleep at the wheel of a vehicle in the area of Patricia and Steele streets. Police were notified and attended the area.
Officers located the vehicle still stopped at the intersection and approached the car. The male driver was sleeping in the driver seat, and when police awoke him, he put the vehicle in drive and fled northbound from the officers, stopping the car a short distance away.
As police approached the vehicle, they observed that the suspect male left the car running, exited and fled eastbound on foot.
A number of officers attended the area and located the suspect in the 1000-block of Patricia Street.
Through the course of the investigation, officers learned the vehicle the male was operating was reported stolen.
A search yielded identification in someone else’s name.
There were no reported injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Cody Kyle Kelly, 30, of London, has been charged with the following offences:
- Impaired operation of a conveyance;
- Dangerous operation;
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
- Fail to stop for police/pursuit;
- Operation while prohibited; and
- Possession of an identity document.
The accused remains in custody and is expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
