HUMAN TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION
Scarborough man charged by way of warrant application
LONDON, ON (January 24, 2024) – Members of the London Police Service Human Trafficking Unit have laid charges in relation to an ongoing investigation.
In March of 2022, a teenaged girl was approached by a man who requested that she add him to a social media communication platform. The girl added the unknown man to the platform and they began to communicate with each other.
In April of 2023, the two arranged to meet with each other at an apartment in downtown London. The man paid the young girl in exchange for sexual services.
The accused in this matter is currently in custody in relation to other matters, and as such, Quwayne Miller, 29, of Scarborough, has been charged by way of warrant of arrest in relation to the following offences:
- Obtaining sexual services for consideration from person under 18 years;
- Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication; and
- Material benefit from sexual services.
The accused is expected to appear in London court on February 9, 2024, in relation to the charges.
