DISTURBANCE LEADS TO ASSAULT POLICE CHARGES
London man arrested
LONDON, ON (May 26, 2025) – A London man has been charged after members of the London Police Service Uniformed Division responded to a disturbance in the south end of the city over the weekend.
On Saturday May 24, 2025, at approximately, 3:25 a.m. police were called to a disturbance at a residence in the area of Wonderland Road South and McMaster Drive.
Officers responded and learned a man inside of the unit was asked to leave when he began to argue with other occupants inside of the residence.
Police asked the suspect male to leave when he assaulted one of the officers.
Officers told the man he was under arrest, when he threatened officers and continued to resist arrest before police deployed a conducted energy weapon (CEW).
The suspect was taken into custody. There were no reported injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Matthew Lee Rickwood, 30, of London, has been charged with the following offences:
- Assault a peace officer; and,
- Resist arrest.
The accused is scheduled to appear in London court on July 3, 2025, in relation to the charges.
