London man charged after teen dies of drug overdose
LONDON, ON (May 22, 2025) – A London man has been arrested after members of the London Police Service Major Crime Section investigated a suspicious death that took place earlier this year.
On January 23, 2025, at approximately 1 a.m., emergency services responded to a death of a 17-year-old male in the 800-block of Commissioners Road East. Members of the LPS Major Crime Section investigated the death with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner. A post-mortem examination was conducted, and the cause of death was determined to be a drug overdose.
On March 27, 2025, a 23-year-old London man was arrested in relation to the investigation.
The following items were seized:
- 57 grams of suspected cocaine, value: $5,700
- 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine: value: $1,500
- 28 x 8mg Dilaudid tablets, value: $56
- $515 in cash.
As a result, the man was charged with a number of drug-related offences.
Officers identified this man as being the same individual who sold the drugs to the victim and the investigation continued.
On May 21, 2025, members of the LPS Major Crime Section arrested the suspect in relation to the death of the teen in January.
As a result of the arrest, the following items were seized:
- 6.6 grams of suspected cocaine, value: $660
- 59 x 8mg Dilaudid tablets, value: $118
- $335 in cash
A search warrant was executed at an address in the south end of the city, and the following items were seized as a result:
- 2.9 grams of suspected cocaine, value: $290
- 71 x 8mg Dilaudid tablets, value: $142
- 153 x 40mg Vyvanse (Lisdexamfetamine) capsules, value: $3,060
- $4,175 in cash
As a result of this investigation, Logan Beckett, 23, of London, has been charged with the following offences:
- Manslaughter;
- Causing death by criminal negligence;
- Two (2) counts of traffic in Schedule I substance;
- Two (2) counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking;
- Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking; and
- Fail to comply with release order.
The victim and accused were known to each other.
The accused is expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
