COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTIONS
44% of vehicles taken out of service
LONDON, ON (September 6, 2023) – The London Police Service Traffic Management Unit, with the assistance of members of the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and Ministry of Finance, conducted inspections on Commercial Motor Vehicles throughout the City of London on September 1, 2023.
The results of the inspection campaign are as follows:
In total, 41 Commercial Motor Vehicles were inspected. Of those inspected, 18 of them were taken out of service as a result of a number of offences including major defects on braking, wheel systems, and insecure loads.
- 49 Provincial Offence Notices were issued;
- 26 warnings were issued; and
- Licence plates were seized from four (4) vehicles.
“Members of the London Police Service will continue to work with enforcement partners to conduct inspections of Commercial Motor Vehicles, in an effort to make our roadways as safe as possible.” Said Sergeant Ozzie Nethersole, head of the London Police Service Traffic Management Unit.
