CHIEF LAUNCHES INTERNAL INVESTIGATION
London officer charged by Ottawa Police Service

UPDATE – LONDON, ON (May 21, 2025) – The Ottawa Police Service has provided an update to their ongoing investigation, advising that London Police Service member, Inspector Ryan Andrew Scrivens, 48, of London, has been arrested and charged with the following offences: 

  • Assault causing bodily harm; and
  • Assault.   

He was released from custody and is expected to appear in Ottawa court on June 20, 2025, in relation to the charges.

He has 25 years of service with the London Police Service. He remains suspended with pay pursuant to section 209 of the Community Safety and Policing Act. An internal conduct investigation will commence once all court proceedings conclude. 

To protect the victim’s privacy and the integrity of these proceedings, no further details will be released at this time. 

“The community rightfully expects the highest standards of professionalism and integrity from all London Police officers, particularly senior leaders.  Upon learning of this serious matter in February, immediate action was taken, resulting in Inspector Scrivens' suspension.  We remain committed to accountability and transparency, understanding that community trust is paramount.  To maintain the integrity of the investigation, I cannot comment further at this stage.” – Chief Thai Truong.

ORIGINAL – LONDON, ON (February 18, 2025) – The London Police Service (LPS) is aware of an ongoing investigation by the Ottawa Police Service involving an off-duty LPS member which occurred over the weekend. As a result, Chief Truong has commenced an internal investigation. 

During the course of the LPS investigation, the member is suspended with pay under section 209 of the Community Safety and Policing Act
