UPDATE – LONDON, ON (October 9, 2024) – The investigation into a break & enter and shooting that took place over the weekend is ongoing.
A previously wanted suspect male was arrested in Oshawa yesterday morning by members of the Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad. He has since been returned to London.
Shayne Cousins, 29, of London, remains in custody, and is expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
Members of the LPS Major Crime Section continue to appeal to members of the public in hopes that they can assist in identifying the second male suspect.

ORIGINAL – LONDON, ON (October 7, 2024) – Members of the London Police Service Major Crime Section are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with a break and enter and shooting over the weekend.
On Saturday, October 5, 2024, at approximately 12:20 a.m., four people were inside a residence on Meadowgate Boulevard when two masked, armed men entered the home without their knowledge.
The suspects forcibly confined and assaulted a female victim prior to confronting two male residents inside the home. One of the suspects fired a shot towards one of the victims, missing him. The other suspect assaulted the second male victim with a firearm.
One of the male victims and the female victim were able to flee the home.
A neighbour heard the sound of a gunshot and called 9-1-1 to report the incident.
Police responded to the area and officers learned that the suspect males had stolen a number of items before fleeing the home prior to their arrival. The area was searched with negative results.
Two of the victims were transported to hospital by paramedic services with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. One of the victims sustained minor injuries not requiring medical attention, and the fourth was not injured.
Investigators were able to identify one of the suspect males, and do not believe this was a random incident.
As a result of the investigation, Shayne Cousins, 29, of London, has not been located, and as such is being charged by way of warrant of arrest in relation to the following offences:
- Break enter & commit indictable offence:
- Use of firearm during commission of an indictable offence;
- Aggravated assault.
- Assault with a weapon;
- Uttering threats of death or bodily harm;
- Forcible confinement;
- Disguise with intent;
- Assault; and
- Theft under $5000.
A second suspect has not yet been identified. He is described as follows:
- Male, Black, approximately 6’0”. Between 30 – 35 years of age, heavy build, wearing a grey sweater, and grey jogging pants. He was wearing a balaclava at the time of the incident.
A photo of the wanted man been added to the website in hopes that members of the public can assist us in locating him.
The accused should be considered armed and dangerous, and we are reminding members of the public not to approach him if located, and to call 9-1-1 immediately if seen.
