Man assaulted and threatened police after being arrested 

LONDON, ON (May 29, 2025) – A London man was arrested earlier this week after a business was broken into in the downtown core.

On May 26, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a man was working at a business in the 400-block of York Street when he observed an unknown male enter the building. The doors to the business were locked at the time, and the employee observed a broken window.

Police were contacted and attended the area, locating the suspect male just west of the business.

The suspect male was arrested, and a search yielded stolen property belonging to the business.

Upon arrival at the Headquarters Detention Unit, the suspect male began to resist and assault one of the officers. The suspect also uttered threats of death towards the officer.

The officer sustained minor injuries not requiring medical attention.

As a result of the investigation, Anthony Soboczynski, 35, of London, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break enter & theft;
  • Assault a peace officer; and
  • Uttering threats of death or bodily harm.

The accused attended London court on May 26, 2025, in relation to the charges.
