AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
Two women facing charges

LONDON, ON (May 13, 2025) – Two women are facing charges after a man suffered serious, but non-life-threating injuries as a result of a fire yesterday afternoon.

On Monday, May 12, 2025, at approximately 9 a.m., a man was seated in the 200-block of Wellington Street when a woman approached him and poured an unknown liquid on him. The woman then proceeded to pour hand sanitizer on him, ignited the liquids on fire, and walked away.

A second woman approached the male, kicked an item that was on fire directly under his legs and left the area.

Emergency services were called, and the male victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries as a result of the fire. Property belonging to him was also damaged as a result.

The victim and suspects were known to each other.

The female suspects were identified by witnesses and were arrested shortly after 1 p.m. by London police officers.

As a result of the investigation, Kendra Slaughter, 33, of London, and Suzanne Rene Sturgeon, 37, of Muncey, were jointly charged with the following offences:

  • Aggravated assault;
  • Mischief under $5000; and
  • Cause bodily harm by criminal negligence.

Both of the accused are expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
