Applicants Must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Have at least a valid G driver's licence with a good driving record that has no more than six demerit points
- Have been granted or issued a pardon if convicted under a federal statute
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (NOTE: If you were born outside of Canada, submit citizenship or permanent residency documentation. These documents must show your date of birth – a passport and/or ‘statement of live birth’ are not sufficient.)
Job Requirements:
Education:
- High-school education or General Education Development (GED) equivalent (transcripts and proof required with application package)
- Post-secondary education preferred (transcripts and proof required with application package)
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR Level C (proof required within application package)
- Excellent written communication skills
- Multilingualism an asset
Fitness:
- Ability to meet the physical demands of police duty
- Complete the Police Fitness Test. The test is by invitation only but be familiar with the requirements and practice prior to submitting your application
Character:

Application Process:
The information you provide will help us to determine whether you meet certain requirements of good moral character and habits as well as conditions of work, as referenced by the Police Services Act. Your answers may be verified through a detailed background check, which is a routine requirement for candidates who reach the final stages of the selection process. Please be advised that providing false or misleading information may lead to disqualification from the selection process. This may occur at any stage of the process.
NOTE: You are required to have your OACP Certificate to apply to London Police Service.

1. Submit Your Application
You can submit your application online, by mail, or in person.
We hire three times each year.
It takes more than three months for a successful applicant to get through the process. Put your application in as soon as you are able to!

2. Fitness Test
Complete the Police Fitness Test.
A reminder - Fitness Testing is by INVITATION ONLY.

3. Initial Review
You may be invited for an interview. We ask questions about your background and past experiences. This is not an Essential Competencies Interview (ECI).
We expect 100% honesty. We don't expect perfection!

4. Essay and Spelling Test
You complete an essay and a spelling test.

5. Second Interview
You are interviewed by a panel of our higher ranking officers. We ask questions about your maturity, education, and your background.

6. Psychological Assessment
You complete some psychological exams and are interviewed by a psychologist. We do this to test if you can manage the stress involved in a policing career.

7. Background Investigation
We will look at your personal history. We will interview many different people in your life to examine your character, your honesty, and your trustworthiness.

8. Chief Selection
Our Chief of Police will review your file. We may make an offer of employment that is conditional on passing a medical exam.

9. Medical Exam
You meet with a doctor who will examine you to make sure you are healthy. We pay for this exam.

10. Police Services Board Approval
Your name is given to the London Police Services Board for approval. You start work with us at the beginning of an upcoming intake with other employees.
