SUSPENDED LONDON POLICE OFFICER FACING CHARGES
LONDON, ON (November 26, 2025) - A London Police Service officer has been arrested following a complaint of impaired driving.
On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at approximately 12:20 a.m., a citizen contacted police to report a suspected impaired driver in the area of Oxford Street West and St. Andrews Street. A description of the vehicle and driver were provided to police.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested in the north end of the city without incident.
As a result of the investigation, Constable Ryan C. Pocrnich, 47, of London, has been charged with the following offences:
- Impaired operation of a conveyance; and
- Impaired exceed blood alcohol concentration.
The accused has been released from custody and will appear in London court on January 7, 2026, in relation to the charges.
At the time of his arrest, Constable Pocrnich was suspended from duty with pay while awaiting a discipline hearing arising from previous allegations of misconduct under the former Police Services Act. Under that Act, a Chief of Police could suspend a police officer without pay only where the officer was convicted of an offence and sentenced to a term of imprisonment. The Community Safety and Policing Act, which replaced the Police Services Act, allows for suspension without pay in a wider set of circumstances. However, pursuant to section 210 of the Act, suspension without pay is not authorized at this time in relation to the recent criminal charges.
An internal conduct investigation in relation to this incident will commence once all court proceedings have concluded.
As this matter is before the courts, the London Police Service will not comment further.
