MAN SUFFERS INJURY 
Special Investigations Unit investigating 

LONDON, ON (December 12, 2025) – The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a man was injured following an arrest in the north end of the city yesterday morning.

On Thursday, December 11, 2025, shortly before 6:30 a.m., members of the London Police Service (LPS) responded to a report of a person in crisis, inside his residence, in the area of Kipps Lane and Adelaide Street North.

When officers arrived, they began speaking with the man who had barricaded himself inside the residence. 

The man threatened to harm himself and assault police with a weapon.

Members of the LPS Emergency Response Unit arrived to assist, and they continued attempts to deescalate the situation.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., believing the man was about to harm himself, members of the LPS Emergency Response Unit, stepped onto the balcony of the residence, where the suspect male confronted and assaulted one of the officers with a baseball bat.

Police deployed a conducted energy weapon (CEW) and the man was taken into custody.

The suspect was injured as a result of the interaction with police. He was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect remains in police custody at the hospital.

The officer assaulted by the suspect sustained injuries requiring medical attention. He received treatment at the hospital and was subsequently released.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old London man has been charged with one count of assault a peace officer with a weapon.

The accused appeared virtually in court on December 11, 2025. He remains in custody in hospital and is expected to re-appear virtually in London court today in relation to the charge.
