SERIOUS ASSAULT INVESTIGATION
Seeking the public’s assistance
LONDON, ON (November 6, 2025) – Members of the London Police Service are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a wanted man in relation to a serious assault earlier this week.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at approximately 5 a.m., a man entered a woman’s residence without her knowledge in the area of Fiddlers Green Road and Oxford Street West. The woman and her young child were asleep at the time.
The woman awoke and the two became involved in an argument before the man assaulted her, tied her up, threatened her with a knife and forcibly stopped her from leaving the residence.
During the evening hours on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the victim escaped the residence from an upstairs window and attended a nearby home, where she called 9-1-1.
Officers responded and located the victim. She was transported to hospital by paramedic services with injuries requiring medical attention. The child was also located uninjured.
A description of the suspect was provided to police. Efforts to locate him were unsuccessful and are ongoing.
The suspect and victim are known to each other.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, Thanh Dat Mai, 42, of London, has been charged by way of warrant of arrest with the following offences:
· Assault;
· Assault with a weapon;
· Assault by suffocation;
· Break and enter with intent;
· Forcible confinement;
· Fail to comply with a release order;
· Obstruct justice dissuade witness; and,
· Uttering threats/death or bodily harm.
Investigators have included a photograph of the suspect male in hopes the public can assist with locating him.

Thanh Dat Mai is described as male, West Asian, 5’5”, approximately 176 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. If seen police are reminding the public not to approach him and call 9-1-1 immediately.
The investigation remains ongoing.
