HATE-MOTIVATED THREATS INVESTIGATION

UPDATE – LONDON, ON (December 11, 2025) – The London Police Service has laid an additional charge in an ongoing investigation into hate-motivated online threats directed at members of London’s South Asian and Latin American communities.
Brian Vassallo-Wilkins, 32, of London, was first charged on July 2, 2025, with uttering threats of death or bodily harm. Following further investigation, he has now been charged with public incitement of hatred, contrary to section 319(1) of the Criminal Code. This charge required review and consent by the Attorney General before it could proceed.
The London Police Service recognizes the serious impact that hate-motivated incidents have on individuals and on the broader sense of safety within our community. Our Hate Crime Unit continues to take a victim-centred, trauma-informed approach in these investigations and remains focused on holding those responsible accountable under the law.

ORIGINAL – LONDON, ON (July 3, 2025) – A London man was arrested yesterday in relation to an ongoing hate-motivated threats investigation.
On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, members of the London Police Service Patrol Operations Investigative Section received information that a man had been making racially-motivated threats online towards the South Asian and Latin American communities.
Officers confirmed that between June 14, 2025, and June 26, 2025, a male suspect posted several hate-motivated threats on a social media platform.
Investigators positively identified the man and shortly before 12 p.m., on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, the suspect was arrested at his residence in the area of Southdale Road East and Millbank Drive.
The investigation was deemed to be hate-motivated and reassigned to members of the London Police Service Hate Crime Unit.
As a result of the investigation, Brian Vassallo-Wilkins, 32, of London has been charged with one count of uttering threats of death or bodily harm.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in London court today.
The posts have since been removed from social media, and the investigation remains ongoing by members of the LPS Hate Crime Unit and LPS Patrol Operations Investigative Section.
