ONGOING INVESTIGATION

UPDATE - LONDON, ON (August 26, 2025) – Members of the London Police Service Patrol Operations Investigation Section continue to investigate the weapons call at Weldon Library from yesterday afternoon.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025, police responded to a call in relation to a male with a gun outside of the Weldon Library at the University of Western Ontario.

Investigators quickly determined the call was a hoax but continued their investigation and a search of the building and surrounding area out of an abundance of caution.

The investigation remains ongoing, and investigators continue to work to determine the identity of the caller.

The London Police Service recognizes the impact these types of investigations have on the community and want to remind the public that anyone who knowingly makes a false report to police can be the subject of a criminal investigation and be charged. Ensuring public safety and transparency through promptly investigating incidents such as these, proactive crime prevention and fostering community partnerships remain the priority of the London Police Service to reaffirm our commitment to the safety and well-being of all Londoners.

LONDON, ON (August 25, 2025) – Shortly before 3 p.m. this afternoon, members of the London Police Service responded to a single report of a weapons call at the Weldon Library located on the campus of the University of Western Ontario.

The building was closed as officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the call.

There is no concern for public safety, and no injuries have been reported.

The building has since been re-opened, and the investigation remains ongoing.
