SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
16-year-old arrested
LONDON, ON (December 29, 2025) – A 16-year-old Chatham male has been arrested in relation to a shooting investigation in the downtown core last month.
On Monday, November 10, 2025, shortly after 2 p.m., an employee of a business in the 300-block of Richmond Street contacted police after discovering what appeared to be a bullet hole in a window of the business. Additional information was received from a citizen who reported hearing the sounds of gunshots the night before at approximately 11:15 p.m.
Officers attended and located evidence confirming a firearm had been discharged into the building overnight.
The building was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The investigation was reassigned to members of the LPS Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of the Patrol Operations Investigation Section. Two suspects, a London man and Chatham youth, were identified.
On Friday, November 21, 2025, investigators learned one of the suspects responsible for the shooting was in a vehicle in the north end of the city. The vehicle was located and stopped, and a suspect male was arrested.
The following items were seized from inside the vehicle as a result of the traffic stop:
· Two (2) loaded 9 mm handguns;
· 66 grams of suspected Fentanyl;
· 25 pills of suspected Oxycodone; and,
· Canadian currency
One of the suspects of the reported shooting, Oshayne Vaughn Caranagie, 22, of London has been charged with the following offences:
· Two (2) counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order;
· Two (2) counts of fail to comply with a release order;
· Discharge firearm in a reckless manner;
· Two (2) counts of possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a license and registration certificate;
· Two (2) counts of occupy motor vehicle with firearm/ etc.;
· Two (2) counts of possess loaded/ unloaded regulated firearm; and,
· Two (2) counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
On December 27, 2025, a 16-year-old Chatham male who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) was arrested in Chatham and returned to London, where he remains in custody.
The youth was charged with the following offences:
· Discharge a firearm in a reckless manner;
· Disguise with intent;
· Possession of loaded/unloaded regulated firearm;
· Possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence; and
· Occupy a motor vehicle with a firearm.
Both of the accused remain in custody. Oshayne Carnagie is scheduled to re-appear in London court on January 9, 2026, while the 16-year-old youth will re-appear in London court today by way of video.

Investigators continue to appeal to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact the London Police Service, including anyone who may have been in the area of Richmond and York streets between 11 – 11:30 p.m., on November 9, 2025. Dash-cam, residential or business video surveillance captured within that timeframe is of particular interest to investigators.
