ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON
Hamilton man arrested
LONDON, ON (November 4, 2025) – A Hamilton man is facing charges after an incident in the downtown core late last week.
At approximately 10:40 p.m., on Friday, October 31, 2025, two males were in a downtown establishment in the 200-block of John Street when they became involved in a verbal altercation with each other. The argument turned physical and one of the men produced a can of pepper spray.
The suspect male deployed the pepper spray at the unknown male victim. Other patrons attempted to leave the area of the altercation, and two females were sprayed as a result.
The unidentified male victim and suspect fled from the establishment and police were contacted.
Two female victims were located with minor injuries and treated by paramedic services.
Witnesses identified the suspect male, and police arrested him without incident.
The female victims and suspect were not known to each other.
The investigation was reassigned to members of the Patrol Operations Investigative Section, and as a result, Anthony Benjamin, 20, of Hamilton, has been charged with the following offences:
· Assault with a weapon; and
· Administer noxious thing.
The accused is scheduled to appear in London court on November 25, 2025, in relation to the charges.
Investigators are hoping to speak with the victim that ran from the scene, as well as any additional patrons or victims that may be able to assist with the ongoing investigation.
