Car Seat Safety

If your child is under the age of 8 and/or less than 80 pounds then by law they need a car seat.

Please be mindful that the law exists for the safety of our children. Although not law, if your child is older than 8 but small, you should consider keeping them in a booster until they are 80 pounds.

Criteria

Type of Car Seat

Weight: Less than 20 pounds

Age: Less than 1 year old

Rear-facing car seat

Weight: 20-40 pounds

Forward-facing car seat

Weight: 40-80 pounds

Age: Less than 8 years old

booster seat (child's head should not be above the booster seat)

 

Children 12 years of age and younger should not be in the front seat of your vehicle. An airbag deployment can seriously injure a child.
